The University of Lincoln received HEFCE Strategic Development Funding to establish a new School of Engineering at its Brayford Campus in the centre of Lincoln in 2009. It enabled a ground-breaking initiative in collaborating with Siemens and other employers in the engineering sector that seeks to develop engineering education, transformative research, and knowledge exchange for the 21st century.

The School of Engineering comprises Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees.  It is research-focused and encompasses two strategic research clusters contributing to an extensive portfolio of externally funded projects (1) Industrial Digitalisation and System Intelligence; and (2) Sustainable Energy and Power Systems. The School offers a dynamic, collaborative, inclusive and rewarding environment with excellent facilities and strong industry links.

The School of Engineering invites applications for a permanent full-time post, Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Engineering Design and Manufacturing. The post is on the Teaching and Research (TR) pathway. It is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of its community through teaching, research and service.

Responsibilities for the post include teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervising project- and research students, developing an externally funded research programme of the highest quality and impact, and producing outputs of REF-returnable quality.  Successful applicants will have demonstrable experience in a research area closely aligned with Engineering Design, Product Development, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Cyber-physical Systems for Production Engineering (Industry 4.0), or Digital Supply Chains, and be able to support and advance the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate Engineering curricula, contribute to student mentoring activities, and leverage synergies with other Schools across the College of Science and campus.

Application Requirements:

Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate their teaching competency and articulate their plan to develop and sustain an externally funded research programme.  Applications must include (1) a covering letter clearly indicating which of the positions they which to apply for; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) research statement; (4) teaching statement; (5) copies of their five best publications, from January 2014 to present; and (6) contact details of three professional referees.
